Registration open for July youth retreat

The Great Awakening Youth Retreat for campers ages 12-19 will be held July 20-22 at Diamond Don's RV Park and Campground, 1602 state Highway 49 E. in Jefferson, Texas.

The retreat "is committed to providing a safe, enjoyable and exciting experience for all campers ... to learn and grow in God's will," according to the organization's website.

Small groups will meet each morning for student-led devotionals. Throughout the day, the campers will rotate through stations with instruction in bible study, fishing, archery, animal imprinting, crafts, train rides and alligator feedings, along with having ample free time. Nightly worship includes live music and entertainment and a Christian speaker bringing God's word.

"The Retreat also provides opportunities for teens to invite non-Christian friends who are wary of organized religion to less-threatening events. This camp is not about snacks games. This is about what is missing in the church and the lives of His people. It's about restoring the identity of God's people in grace and holiness," the press release states.

The cost per camper is $25 and includes lunches and dinners, all daily activities and the use of the RV park. The camp is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Campers with supervision may stay overnight. Those who do not want to sleep in tents may rent RVs or stay in a bed and breakfast or hotel in Jefferson.

Registration payments can be made by online at greatawakeningretreat.com or by calling David Nelson at 903-932-3674 or Daniel Baldwin at 903-452-9323.
