Jan Morgan, Republican primary candidate for Arkansas governor, will attend a meet-and-greet from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Big Jake's Bar-B-Que in Ashdown, Ark.
Morgan's campaign focuses on efforts to "restore the power back to the people of Arkansas."
The former Texarkana newscaster announced plans on New Year's Eve to challenge Gov. Asa Hutchinson for the GOP nomination. She would become the state's first female governor if elected.
Morgan worked in the Texarkana television market for a number of years beginning in the 1980s. In addition to covering news events for local network affiliates, she also appeared on Christian-based KLFI TV. She owns Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range in Hot Springs, Ark., and is a Fox News/Fox Business Network analyst.
Big Jake's in Ashdown is on U.S. Highway 71 about two blocks south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Main Street.
