Police chief back on agenda in New Boston

Council seeks clarification from city attorney on multiple issues

The city of New Boston, Texas, will hold its regular City Council meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Agenda items include acquiring clarification from City Attorney Mike Brock on the Open Meetings Act, executive sessions and who has authority to consult the city attorney concerning city matters.

Additional items include considering and taking action on the failure of Police Chief Tony King to submit paperwork with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to reinstate Lt. Johnny Millwood to the police force as the council voted to do at its last regular meeting March 20.

A listed item about who can access the personnel files of city employees is a matter of whether any city employees are under contract and which city officials and/or employees have the authority to contractually bind the city.

In addition, the council will meet in closed session and also discuss in the public meeting pending litigation filed by the city against Sinha Hospitality and Sunny Sinha. The lawsuit concerns money allegedly owed to the city.

The agenda also includes taking action on approving or suspending a proposed rate adjustment for Centerpoint Energy and an item to address a city ordinance related to Southwestern Electric Power Co. The council is expected to consider awarding or rejecting bids on a list of city-owned vehicles deemed surplus.

Another item on Tuesday's agenda is an item to amend the city's policy concerning placement of items on the council's meeting agendas.

New Boston's City Hall is at 301 E.N. Front Street.
