A year of Review in Pictures

There's something special about the Queen City High School Band. In November they returned from their seventh straight state playoff participation. This year, they finished fourth in the best-in-state marching season finals. The band simply makes a solid sound, Director Billy Vess said. "I don't know what it is, exactly, but we get this comment all the time about the band's fullness of sound. These kids get the sound everyone looks for."

"Interesting," came back a reply from the group's center.

True enough. Not over- or understated. Yet perhaps the follow-up response told an even deeper story.

"But I sure hope 2018 is better," said another voice.
