Bowie County to make electronic voting machines available for all

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Over the next few years, voting by pencil and paper in Bowie County could be phased out.

Bowie County Elections Administrator George Stegall said the county now has enough electronic touchscreen Express Voting machines to place one at each of 32 of the county's voter polling locations.

The new machines were first used during the November 2017 local and state elections. The machines cost the county about $3,500 each, Stegall said.

The new machines are available now to enable physically-challenged county residents to vote. The ultimate goal will be to have enough of them at each polling location to accommodate all voters, Stegall said.
