The FBI is asking for the public's help in identifying a bank robbery suspect investigators have nicknamed "The Chameleon Beard Bandit." He is wanted in connection with bank robberies in four states, the most recent being in Longview, Texas.
Investigators believe the man has committed six robberies since September, also hitting banks in Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky:
- Sept. 29, 2017: Bank of America, 2 Park Drive, Durham, N.C.
- Oct. 13, 2017: 1st Trust Bank, 271 London Shopping Center, London, Ky.
- Nov. 14, 2017: Virginia Commonwealth Bank, 900 N. Parham Road, Henrico, Va.
- Nov. 17, 2017: Bank of America, 107 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, N.C.
- Dec. 12, 2017: Wells Fargo Bank, 1344 N. Hershberger Road, Roanoke, Va.
- Jan. 5: Chase Bank, 2606 Judson Road, Longview
The FBI in Richmond said the man wears glasses and frequently changes the color of his beard. He's described as 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2 and 180 to 240 pounds in his mid- to late 30s, with brown eyes and hair and a light complexion.
The agency said he has produced demand notes and either shown a handgun or threatened that he had a gun during the robberies.
The Richmond office is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction.
