Road crews will close Interstate 30 and U.S. Highway 67 near Fulton, Ark., for 10-15 minutes tonight for the demolition of three concrete piers of the old I-30 bridge over the Red River, transportation officials said.

Jensen Construction workers plan to close all eastbound and westbound lanes of I-30 and U.S. 67 starting at 8 p.m. for a blasting operation to remove concrete piers in the river channel.

I-30 westbound lanes will be closed at mile marker 18 in Hempstead County. Eastbound lanes will be closed at mile marker 16 in Miller County.

Eastbound U.S. 67 traffic will stop near mile marker 16, just west of the Boll Weevil convenience store.  Westbound traffic will be stopped at state Highway 355 and U.S. 67 near Suny's Food Mart and Deli in Fulton.

The project to replace the bridge was awarded to Jensen Construction in June 2015 for $37,192,629. It is expected to be "substantially complete" in June 2018, Arkansas Department of Transportation officials said.

Drivers should be careful when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Travel information can be found at idrivearkansas.comardot.gov or on Twitter @myARDOT.
