Virtual reality to educate Jefferson Mardi Gras attendees on drunken driving

A virtual reality game at Friday's Mardi Gras celebration in Jefferson, Texas, will aim to educate the public about the dangers of drunken driving.

The Texas Department of Transportation's "Plan While You Can" impaired driving campaign urges drivers to plan ahead for a sober ride through its "Plan to Win" virtual reality game, according to a news release.

The game quizzes and educates participants on the dangers and consequences of drinking alcohol and driving.

With the aim to save lives and reduce crashes during spring break, the game is visiting 10 Texas cities throughout March.

It will be available during the Mardi Gras Doo Dah Parade from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at 10 E. Lafayette St. in Jefferson.
