The Linden Heritage Foundation has made a $10,000 contribution to launch a "Let Linden Shine" drive to illuminate the historic 1934 Linden Water Tower.

The goal of the project is to raise $32,000 by Aug. 29 in order to contract with Longview Lights to light the tower with a color lighting system.

Officials anticipate the project will unify and brand the city while encouraging visitors and new business growth around a shared landmark.

According to a press release, a celebration and fundraising gala is planned at 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Music City Texas Theater where all major donors contributing by Aug. 1 will be recognized.

Donations of any amount are welcome and may be made by check payable to Linden Heritage Foundation 'Let Linden Shine' at Texana Bank Linden or by mail to Linden Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 916, Linden, TX 75563.

Levels of donation are:

  •  Beacon, $10,000;
  •  Halogen, $5,000;
  •  LED, $1,000;
  •  Neon, $500; or
  •  Luminary, $100.

Donors are requested to give name, address, telephone number and email address, and a receipt will be mailed in return.
