Hooks, Texas, is under a water boil order due to a water main break.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Hooks and Burns Red Bank Water Supply public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption or washing their hands and face, said Andria Whitehurst at Hooks City Hall.

Children, senior adults and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

Bottled water or water from another source can also be used in lieu of boiling.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe again.

Anyone with questions can contact Whitehurst at 903-547-2105.
