Texarkana area Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 278 will hold their 23rd annual Veterans Information Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 at the Texas Elks Lodge 2771 at 3702 New Boston Road.
The fair's purpose is to assist veterans, both actively serving as well as inactive or retired, in getting information on U.S. Veterans Administration benefits, health programs and other assistance.
About 20 local and area agencies will have representatives at the fair. which is free and open to all veterans and their families. These agencies include Texarkana VA Outpatient Clinic, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Workforce Commission, Arkansas Workforce Commission, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration and Texarkana Funeral Home.
Other agencies with representatives at the fair include East Funeral Home, Humana, Hospice of Texarkana, the American Red Cross, Lone Star Legal Aid, the Area Agency on Aging (both from Texas and Arkansas), Dierksen Hospice, the Northeast Texas Veterans Resource Center and Home Depot.
