Suspect arrested in 2018 theft of heavy equipment

A suspect in the 2018 theft of heavy equipment has been arrested in Naples, Texas.

Morris County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a location in response to a GPS beacon that was attached to a recently stolen excavator on Monday where they found numerous pieces of equipment hidden on the property, according to a statement released by the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.

BCSO investigator David Biggar confirmed four pieces of equipment as stolen from Bowie County in December 2018.

Bigger spoke with property owner Justin Paul Cobb regarding the stolen equipment. Cobb's explanation for possessing the stolen equipment was not credible, according to the press release. A warrant was later issued for Cobb's arrest for the offense of theft over $30,000 and under $150,000.

The following pieces of equipment were recovered and returned to the rightful owner:

- Kubota brand skid steer tractor, valued at $70,000

- Big Tex brand 32-foot gooseneck trailer, valued at $12,000
