This Santa Claus doesn't need a "ho, ho, ho" voice, a snow-tipped red suit or even reindeer.

Brian Ogburn is about as real a Santa as he could be, short of living at the North Pole.

He's even bleached his hair and beard snowy white. He stays in character months before and after Christmas.

It's all the result of a challenge.

"My biker friends dared me," Ogburn recalled. "They said they needed a Santa Claus, and I had the looks. 'Dye the beard' they said. They didn't think I would, but I fooled them. Head hair and all."

The biker group is the Bikers Against Child Abuse Riders. Ogburn, a resident of New Boston, Texas, said he is happy to lend his support as Santa Claus.

His role takes him to homes and schools, wherever he can listen to children. Sometimes adults, too, he said.

Most recently Ogburn was part of Atlanta's early Christmas gift land, which raises funds to get Christmas presents for children who are part of Children Protective Services.

"I relate well to children. I didn't have to go to a professional Santa Claus school to learn. I just dyed my hair and beard and showed up."

When not being Santa, Ogburn is a chef at New Boston Burger Joint. His family owned Ogburn Grocery in Queen City, Texas, for years.
