In two separate incidences, a Texarkana, Texas, man allegedly dressed himself as a woman and stole six computers from the Ashdown Walmart.

Xavier Dondre Harper, 24, was recently arrested for theft of property for stealing a total of six computers from the Ashdown Walmart, according to a report from the Ashdown Police Department.

During his first appearance in the Little River County Circuit Court Tuesday, Harper pleaded not guilty to the two counts of theft of property. Circuit Court Charles Yeargan scheduled a pretrial hearing for Nov. 1 and a trial date for Nov. 14.

Harper remains in the Little River County jail in Ashdown with a $5,000 bond.

The arrest affidavit said that July 2 video footage from Walmart security cameras shows what appears to be a black female loading three computers into a shopping cart, avoiding the checkout, then leaving the store with the computers. The suspect then went over to a silver Dodge Grand Caravan, quickly loaded the computers inside the van and left.

Video footage from July 7 again showed the same suspect coming in the store, going to the computer section then placing three more computers in a shopping cart. The person went toward the doors in the front of the store and proceeded to the same Grand Caravan, loaded the computers and left the property a second time without paying.

On July 8, Kevin Cross, an employee with the Walmart loss prevention department, made a formal report. He showed Ashdownpolice the videos and printed a still photo of the suspect. The picture of the suspect and the silver Dodge Grand Caravan with paper tags and dents in the rear hatch door were distributed to patrol officers and the criminal investigation division.

About 7 a.m. on July 14, officers were dispatched to Walmart, where the suspect had been spotted inside the store. When officers arrived, they surrounded the van so the suspect could not leave. The "woman" was ultimately identified as Xavier Harper, a black man dressed in a wig and women's clothing.

Ashdown Detective Glenn Gross placed the suspect in custody and Sgt. Darren Black transported Harper to the Ashdown Police Department.

He was transported to the county jail after being arrested for two counts of theft of property of more than $1,000 and less than $5,000. The charge is a Class D felony with a potential sentence of 0 to 6 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000 or both fine and imprisonment.
