On Friday, trustees of Pleasant Grove Independent School District will meet for the third time this week to interview candidates for superintendent. Board President Jeff Harris said they've narrowed the pool to these three candidates, and following Friday's interview, the board will assess where they are in the search.

"At the end of this week, we will consider the applications so far," he said. "We will make decisions to conduct additional interviews and if we can, choose a candidate from all the ones we've already interviewed. We may decide to talk to additional candidates."

The board contracted with Arrow Educational Services, Inc., of Henderson, Texas, to conduct the search following the May retirement of Dr. Todd Williams, who was with the district for three years. Mark Roberts, PG's former district services director, is serving as the interim superintendent until the PG's next leader is hired.

The search began with 44 candidates, with trustees winnowing that down to six last month. From those interviews, three were chosen for the final stage of the interview process, which includes more in-depth questions so trustees can evaluate the applicants' abilities to lead the district.

Last month, Harris said the board does not have a timeline for the process, and will select the candidate best suited for the position.

"We are committed to taking our time and choosing the person that's going to lead us for the next several years," he said.
