L-EISD welcomes Trevelyan Hodge to board

Trevelyan Hodge was sworn-in as a trustee of the Liberty-Eylau Independent School District at Tuesday's L-EISD meeting in Texarkana, Texas.

Hodge took the oath of office to fill the vacancy created by longtime board member Dan Haskins, who died in June.

Hodge has three children in Liberty-Eylau School District and has lived in the district since 1988.

Board members alsom were notified of the resignation of the Middle School's principal Michael Rhodes, who was hired for the position in June. Rhodes' resignation is effective Sept. 1.

He had been with the district since 2010, when he was hired as a teacher and was assistant principal at L-EMS prior to being offered the top spot.

Jeff Wright, a former principal at the Primary School, is serving as the Middle School principal. Prior to the position becoming available, he was the district's director of support services.

In another announcement, the school district will receive 220 backpacks from the United Way to help needy students.
