Child safety seat inspection to be held at Texas-side fire station

Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department will host a child safety seat inspection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the fire station at 4315 Summerhill Road.

"Securing a child safety seat is a key aspect of traveling with children. Four out of every five car seats for children are installed incorrectly and could result in fatalities," said Lisa Thompson, spokeswoman for the city.

Assistant Fire Chief Chris Black said he is looking forward to the communitywide event, held in conjunction with Northeast Traffic Safety Coalition and Texas Department of Transportation, according to a press release from Thompson.

"We want to help protect the children in our city and keep all the people in automobiles safe," Black said. "The best way to do that is to be proactive, and to help parents make safety a priority for their children."
