Walk for Children slated for Sept. 24

The 2016 ArkLaTex Walk for Children with Apraxia of Speech will take place at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 at Wright Patman Lake, Sportsman's Cove, Texarkana, Texas. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

Registration is $20 for adult walks and $10 for kids under 18.

Proceeds will benefit apraxia programs and the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America.

Childhood apraxia of speech is a neurological speech
disorder which makes it difficult or impossible for
children to accurately produce sounds, syllables and words despite having a good understanding of
language.

It is among the rarest and most severe of all speech disorders affecting children, according to CASANA.

Proper treatment involves intensive, specialized speech therapy.
