Crews with Texarkana Water Utilities are repairing a leak on a water main off U.S. Highway 82, near Redwater, according to TWU officials.
"It's a normal leak, (and) we have crews there getting the valves ready to shut off," said J.D. Phillips, TWU executive director. "The tanks aren't dropping, but we have to shut the line down shortly to fix it."
Phillips said it is a "good-sized" leak, but that customers affected by the shutoff were notified to keep their tanks full so that they will have water while crews repair the leak.
It will not affect the whole of Bowie County, he said.
"Luckily, we have two industries in town that manufacture repair valves," Phillips said. "It's well within our capabilities (to fix)."
