One person dead in two-vehicle accident

A 54-year-old man died in an early morning accident at the intersection of Summerhill Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard. James Rose, driving a 1993 Mustang, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2016 Ford F250 truck sustained minor injuries. The accident happened about 6:36 a.m.

A 54-year-old man  died in an early morning accident today at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Summerhill Road. 

James Rose, 54, of Texarkana, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Geoff Lewis, TTPD spokesman.

Officers were dispatched to the scene about 6:36 a.m.

Initial investigation shows a green 1993 Ford Mustang, driven by Rose, was southbound on Summerhill Road. A person driving a white 2016 Ford F230 pickup was driving northbound on Summerhill, Lewis said.

As the two cars approached the MLK Boulevard intersection, the driver of the Ford pickup was attempting to turn onto MLK, Lewis said.

The two vehicles collided head on, Lewis said.

 The driver of a the Ford pickup truck received minor injuries.
