Charles Smith with Heating & Air Solutions hooks up to test the coolant line pressure on a condenser unit Thursday at a home in Springdale. Proper refrigerant pressure is essential for a central air system to work properly. Smith has several easy tips to prolong the life of an air conditioner until including keeping grass and shrubs at least three feet away from the outside unit and when mowing, to always mow away from the unit to keep the mower from blowing clippings into the unit.

Injuries suffered by a man hours after he was booked into the Miller County jail Friday night were apparently self-inflicted, according to officials.
Scotty Lynn Grammer, 35, was taken to an area hospital for treatment in the early hours Saturday, according to a Miller County Sheriff's Office press statement. Grammer was arrested by Texarkana, Ark., police Friday on an outstanding warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
According to the MCSO press statement, Grammer was placed in a holding cell alone after being booked. During a routine inmate count, Grammer was reportedly found in his cell suffering from "what seemed to be a head injury."
"Thus far, there is no evidence indicating this was anything other than a self-inflicted injury," the MCSO press statement said.
Officials with MCSO said a complete investigation is being conducted by the Arkansas State Police.
Grammer remains hospitalized. He was convicted in Bowie County of indecency with a child by contact in 2007 and sentenced to five years in prison, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender database. The offense involved a 15-year-old girl. Upon release, Grammer was required to register as a sex offender and report any change in residence.
