The Randy Sams' Outreach Shelter and its job-training program, Be the Blessing Bakery, recently released a cookbook.
Be the Blessing at Randy Sams' has recipes used at the bakery and also personal recipes from staff and board members.
"One of our board members thought it would be a really neat idea and she took charge on the project. It's to raise money and also do something fun. It gives us a way to branch out from what we normally do but additional funds are always on our minds," said Jennifer Laurent, shelter executive director.
The cookbook is $10 and can be picked up at the shelter at 402 Oak St., or at 1915 Olive St., Texarkana, Texas, during normal business hours.
Shelter officials had 500 copies of the cookbook printed up. It's something they'd like to do again at some point.
"It won't be something we do every year but we had a great time doing it," Laurent said. "It was really just a way to gather things that were important to us and share them with people."
