Texas High students earn awards from Scholastic Press Association

Student members of the Texas High School Publications Department earned 11 Gold Circle Awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
This year's yearbooks and digital media categories attracted 4,232 entries by students at colleges, universities and secondary schools throughout the United States. The categories included those for newspapers, magazines, yearbooks and digital media in its annual competition for individual achievement by student writers, editors, designers and photographers.
Judges cited 506 winners for first, second and third place or honorable mention. Awards reflected entries produced between Oct. 11, 2014, through Oct. 13, 2015.
Texas High's Gold Circle Award winners are:

  •  Molly Crouchfirst place in Digital Media Breaking News for "U.S. Highway 71 Closed;"
  •  Alex O'Gormanfirst place in Digital Media Hand-Drawn Art/Illustration for "Editorial TISD Bond Issue;"
  •  Madison Maynard, Colleen Russell and Elizabeth Tullissecond place in yearbook index for Tiger Yearbook;
  •  Daylon O'Nealthird place in digital media video news pack for "Religion in Curriculum;"
  •  Jasmine Andersoncertificate of merit in yearbook organizations for "Pick Your Strategy;"
  •  Kelsi Brinkmeyercertificate of merit in yearbook feature photo for "Broken Tradition;"
  •  Leah Crenshawcertificate of merit in digital media off-campus personal opinion for "My Invisible Uncle;"
  •  Molly Crouchcertificate of merit in digital media breaking news for "Same Sex Marriage Now Legal;"
  •  Madeline Hunley and Madison Maynardcertificate of merit in yearbook student life feature writing for "We're Still Here;"
  •  Libby Northam, Laura Rochelle and Colleen Russellcertificate of merit in student life spread for "For the First Time in Forever."
