Four injured in two-car collision

Four people were taken to area hospitals Wednesday night after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Farm to Market Road 2148 near Nash, Texas, according to police.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jonathon Baldwin said just before 6 p.m., a woman driving southbound on FM 2148 in a black Toyota Highlander failed to yield the right of way when crossing over U.S. Highway 82.

The Toyota-which also held an infant and teenager-struck the broadside of a white Chevy Tahoe, headed east on U.S. Highway 82 toward Texarkana, Baldwin said.

Both the driver and passenger of the Tahoe were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Baldwin said police did not believe their injuries to be life-threatening.

Two occupants of the Highlander were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, according to police.

The Tahoe appeared to have landed upright in the ditch on the side of the highway near a wooded area by the railroad track that crosses the Farm to Market road, while the Highlander straddled the center of the highway.

Nash police and fire officials were aiding troopers in diverting eastbound Highway 82 traffic north onto FM 2148 at presstime Wednesday while clearing the roadway.
