One year ago today, a local pilot was found shot to death in his Texarkana, Ark., home.
The crime remains unsolved, but Texarkana, Ark., police have not given the murder cold-case status.
Scott Roberts was found by family members who went to check on him at his Garland Street house because they had been unable to contact him by phone. Roberts had been shot multiple times.
"Our investigators pour every ounce of professionalism and thoroughness into this case, just as they do on any homicide investigation," Texarkana, Ark., Police Department spokeswoman Kristi Bennett said. "All evidence, information, leads and tips have been followed up on immediately."
Bennett said TAPD investigators have sought assistance from FBI offices in Texarkana and Little Rock and have sought the services of a retired Texas Rangers homicide investigator who now works as a consultant.
"Several suspects have been developed throughout the year and extensive investigations are ongoing to determine their innocence or guilt," Bennett said.
A GoFundMe page has solicited $10,010 toward a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers has pledged $1,000 as well.
"We grieve with the Roberts family and hope that one lead needed to solve this case happens soon. We know that someone knows something, and however insignificant that person may feel the information is, we implore you to come forward and share it with us," Bennett said. "We have assembled the puzzle that paints a broad picture of Scott's life; all we need is that one piece of the puzzle to further this investigation and bring to justice the person or people who committed this act. We won't give up. We will have complete resolve before we are done."
TAPD encourages anyone with information to call the department at 903-798-3154 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP. To contribute to the reward fund, visit gofundme.com.
