A Horatio, Ark., man wanted in connection with a double homicide Saturday afternoon was arrested in Oklahoma a little more than six hours later, according to Little River County emergency services officials.
Andre Johnson, 40, of Horatio was arrested by McCurtain County sheriff's deputies between Idabel and Broken Bow, Okla., near the Arkansas state line.Johnson was wanted in connection with death of a man and woman in the 100 block of Cottage Hill Road about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police.
Johnson was reportedly driving a silver 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche and was considered armed and dangerous. Police initially asked that the public not confront him.
At presstime, Sevier County Sheriff's officials said they were unable to give details on the double homicide and whether or not the victims were related to Johnson. Sevier County officials also said a press release was being made available, but couldn't say when it would be released to the public.
The names of the victims were not released by presstime.
A dispatcher for Idabel police confirmed about 9 p.m. that an alert had been issued there and that she heard that Johnson "may have been seen somewhere out in the (McCurtain) County, Okla.," area, just over the state line from Little River County, Ark.
"We haven't spotted him yet," she added.
A female employee who answered the phone at McCurtain County Sheriff's Office about 9 p.m. said, "All I can tell you is my guys are out looking. Arkansas is out looking. The last I knew of, (Johnson) was supposedly seen in the Eagletown (Okla.) area."
Eagletown is a small, unincorporated community in McCurtain County and a short distance from where Johnson was reportedly found less than an hour later.
