Police seek answers in death of area man

An area man is dead and a "person of interest" is being held for questioning after an apparent shooting Friday night at a home in Stamps, Ark., Lafayette County Sheriff Obie Sims said.

At 8:51 p.m. Friday, the sheriff's department received a call about an unresponsive male found at a residence at 1112 Hope Road in Stamps.

Ricardo R. Martin, 29, was found dead and appeared to have been shot, Arkansas State Police said.

Martin's body has been taken to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

"This is currently being treated as a homicide," Sims said.

"At this time, a person of interest is being held for questioning," he said.

Arkansas State Police is leading the investigation, along with Stamps Police Department, Lafayette County Sheriff's Office and Lewisville, Ark., Police Department.
