NWA Media/MICHAEL WOODS --06/11/2013-- Northwest Arkansas Naturals second baseman Whit Merrifield tags out Arkansas Travelers baserunner Robbie Widlandsky as he tries to steal second base in the 4th inning of Tuesday nights game against the Arkansas Travelers at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale.

Marquan Neal, 17, was found about 1 a.m. Monday hiding in a "row of thick bushes and trees" across from Arista Apartments in the 3500 block of Arista Boulevard, said Shawn Vaughn, TTPD spokesman.

Officers arrested Neal after residents at The Parks Apartments in the 5200 block of Summerhill Road reported two men were going through vehicles in the parking lot. A resident reportedly confronted the men, who left in a green PT Cruiser, police said.

A matching vehicle seen at Moores Lane and Richmond Road "sped away" from police, Vaughn said. Officer Clint Akin followed the car to Arista Apartments and saw the driver run from the vehicle, which continued rolling and hit two parked cars, he said.

Police set up a perimeter, and Officer Bo Carter and K-9 Boston tracked Neal across the field southeast of the apartments, according to Vaughn.

"When officers checked the registration of the Neal's vehicle, they discovered that it had been reported stolen from a Texarkana, Texas, residence on Sunday morning," Vaughn said.

Neal was arrested without incident on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading detention. He was taken to the Bi-State Justice Building jail. Bond was set at $20,000.
