TxDOT to close lanes on I-30 near Leary for bridge work

Project to call overnight closures Monday, Tuesday

The Texas Department of Transportation has announced overnight lane closures Monday and Tuesday on Interstate 30 near Leary, Texas, to set beams for a new overpass bridge.

"This will require closing the traffic lanes under the structure," said Marcus Sandifer, TxDOT spokesman for the Atlanta District.

On Monday, westbound I-30 lanes will be closed from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. as workers begin setting structure beams for the new Farm to Market Road 2253 overpass, Sandifer said. On Tuesday evening, eastbound lanes will close for the same 12-hour period as employees finish setting the support beams.

Sandifer said TxDOT is closing the lanes and doing the work overnight in an effort to reduce traffic problems.

During the closures, traffic will exit onto the off-ramp before getting back on the interstate using the on-ramp.

"Scheduled work and lane closures can change any time due to weather conditions or other unforeseen problems," Sandifer said.

Anyone with questions about the lane closures, detour routes or construction work can call the TxDOT area offices at 903-838-8574.
