Video presentation will warn against hip-hop

Crossway Church, Wake Village, will host the video presentation "The Truth About Hip Hop" by G. Craig Lewis at 5 p.m. today.

Lewis has been in ministry for over 25 years and is a Christian pastor of Adamant Believers Council in Grand Prairie, Texas, and the founder of EX Ministries.

Ex Ministries was created by Lewis to educate and inform Christians on how to protect their relationships with God and to be prepared for the second coming.

After releasing the book and series "The Truth About Hip Hop," Lewis began sharing his revelations across the country, warning people about what he sees as the evil influence of hip-hop music.

According to his website, "New female and male rappers have began to use sexual perversions to sell millions of records that promote hard-core pornography to young teenage girls and boys. We as a church must be aware of the danger of music laced with sex, violence, Satanism and drug use."

Lewis goes on to admonish Christians that let secular music corrupt church programs and gospel music. "We must be examples of true Christians in order to win the lost. We cannot appear to be lost or conform to the world's standards because we want to appeal to them. Our God is not an alternative, but He is the true way."

In addition to Hip-Hop, Lewis gives a biblical perspective on music's origin, what its purpose is and the effect it has on people. "It's the truth behind all types of music," said Robin Hutchinson, Crossway Church official.

The presentation is free to the public.
