Texas Municipal League gave special recognition to Texas-side City Council members Josh Davis, Willie Ray and Jean Matlock and City Manager John Whitson on Friday.
All four were named TML Leadership Fellows at an awards ceremony they attended in Round Rock, Texas.
They were among 50 Leadership Fellows honored by TML Executive Director Bennett Sandlin at the event. All Leadership Fellows are city officials from Texas who voluntarily completed more than 30 hours of training over two months to enhance their leadership skills.
Participants explored the principles and characteristics of ethical leadership, learned to build trust and community, discovered ways to improve team-building and communication skills, and practiced negotiation for strategic influence. They discussed local issues with the goal of applying the lessons they learned to benefit their cities.
