Bryce's Cafeteria passed a health inspection this morning and reopened today at 11 a.m., according to Texarkana, Texas, Public Information Director Lisa Thompson.

The restaurant scored a grade of B on the new inspection, the city spokeswoman said.

The Texas-side Inspection and Code Division suspended Bryce's operating license Wednesday afternoon after the cafeteria failed a third inspection within 10 days.

Bryce's co-owner Bryce Lawrence Jr.'s wife, Lydia Lawrence, said the inspection process was fair and that health inspectors had been cooperative in helping the local institution comply with regulations.

"They worked with us and gave us the opportunity to do what we needed to do to get back in compliance," she said. She added that officials are keeping the restaurant aware of any new regulations that may affect its operations.

Lawrence said a major issue Bryce's addressed was a cooler in need of repair. She said it cannot be repaired until new parts arrive, but in the meantime, all prepared food had been moved to a different cooler.

"We do take food safety seriously," she said, "and we're working diligently to make sure everything is up to code."
