A felony warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for Courvoisier Trotter, 22, of Hope, Tomlin said.

The gunshot victim has been identified as Tommy Hamilton Jr. 24, of Hope.

Detectives are searching for Trotter, who is a 5-foot-7, 180-pound male.

He reportedly left the scene driving a black four-door Mazda MZ6, Tomlin said.

Anyone having information regarding the whereabouts of Trotter should call the Hope Police Department at 870-777-3434 or Detective Eric Zimmer at 870-722-2510.

Trotter is considered to be armed and dangerous.

The shooting was reported to the police at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North Walker Street.

Officers found Hamilton with a gunshot wound to the chest, lying in the yard of the residence. Hamilton was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, where he died.

The Arkansas Crime Lab will conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

"We believe we have a motive, but we can't confirm it. They were having a verbal altercation in the front yard," Tomlin said.

No weapon has been recovered.
