Hope police appeal to public for information in fatal shooting

The Hope, Ark., police are asking for information from the public in locating a suspect in the slaying of a man during an argument last Thursday, Hope Assistant Police Chief Kim Tomlin said.

A felony warrant for first-degree murder has been issued for Courvoisier Trotter, 22, of Hope, Tomlin said.

Trotter remains a fugitive.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Trotter should call the Hope Police Department at 870-777-3434 or Detective Eric Zimmer at 870-722-2510.

Trotter is considered armed and dangerous.

Trotter allegedly shot Tommy Hamilton Jr., 24, of Hope during a drug-related argument in the 600 block of North Walker Street. The police were called at 4:30 p.m. June 23, and the caller said a man had a gunshot wound to the chest and was lying in the yard of the residence.

Hamilton was taken to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope, where he died. The body has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Detectives are searching for Trotter, who reportedly left the scene driving a black four-door Mazda MZ6. The vehicle has not been located.
