A former student and sports stand-out at Liberty-Eylau High School was arrested this morning in an alleged sexual assault that occurred on school property Monday afternoon.

Liberty-Eylau Independent School District Police Department arrested 17-year-old Denzel Green for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old female who was attending summer school. The alleged incident occurred in an unauthorized area of the high school campus after regular summer school hours. Green, who graduated from the high school in May, was not authorized to be on the campus, according to district officials. He is being held at the Bi-State Justice Building jail.

The girl said she was assaulted by Green when she went to the media center to get a drink Monday after summer school, according to a probable-cause affidavit used to create the following account. The girl said she was afraid to tell anyone at first, but finally "got the courage" to tell her mother the next morning. The girl's mother contacted school officials, who contacted L-EISD Police Department.

"L-EISD administration is working to determine all of the facts surrounding the incident and are cooperating completely with the police department and prosecutor's office," district spokesman Matt Fry said in a press release. "As always, the safety and security of all L-EISD students and staff are our primary concern. We will evaluate and address any safety issues that may or may not have contributed to this incident."

According to the affidavit, Green can allegedly be seen pulling the girl toward the stage in the media center on video surveillance footage. The girl underwent a sexual assault examination at a local hospital Tuesday and was interviewed Wednesday at the Children's Advocacy Center.

The girl reported to police that Green told her he had wanted to have sex with her for some time and asked for her consent as the two both stood in the media center. The girl refused by stating that she, "had a boyfriend, and plus, I don't do things like that," the affidavit states.

The girl said Green grabbed her arm, pulled her toward the stage and began pushing her up some stairs. The girl told investigators she tried to stop Green by grabbing onto a rail, but was unsuccessful. The girl said she tried to hold her pants and underwear up as Green pulled them down and that she was unable to get away.

"(The alleged victim) stated she never felt something that hurt that bad," the affidavit states.

The girl said Green attempted to force her to perform oral sex before he sexually assaulted her.

The girl told police she was putting her clothes on when Green stopped to take a phone call from his mother. The alleged victim told officers Green took her clothes off and assaulted her a second time after the call ended.

The affidavit alleges second-degree sexual assault. A second-degree felony in Texas is punishable by two to 20 years in prison. Green is expected to appear before a magistrate judge Friday in the Bowie County jail. Bail is likely to be set at the hearing.
