Man fatally stabbed at Salvation Army identified by police

A man killed Saturday at the Salvation Army on Hazel Street has been identified as 33-year-old Joshua Sines.

Police were called at 5:30 p.m. Saturday to the Salvation Army in response to a stabbing.

While investigating the call, officers learned that a man- who was reported by witnesses to have just stabbed another man in the chest- had left the scene walking north. Another witness followed the suspect from the scene and reported that the man was walking north on North State Line Avenue had crossed into Texarkana, Texas.

Texarkana, Ark., police responded and located Billy Joe Mitchell, 43 , walking north. With the assistance of Texarkana, Texas Police, Mitchell was taken into custody after evidence was found that linked Mitchell to the crime.

LifeNet paramedics and TAPD officers rendered aid to Sines who was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injury.
