Ashdown man jailed after pursuit

LEWISVILLE, Ark.-An Ashdown, Ark., man is being held inside the Lafayette County jail after allegedly leading area law officers on a high-speed chase in two counties early Sunday morning.

Joshua Dixon, age unavailable, is being held on a felony fleeing charge and at least one charge of aggravated assault, according to information released Sunday afternoon by the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office, a Lafayette County deputy on patrol in Stamps, Ark., noticed the suspect's vehicle passed him at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. This led to a westward pursuit on U.S. Highway 82, where the suspect hit the deputy's vehicle several times on the roadway into Miller County.

Once in Miller County, the chase turned onto Rondo Road and weaved through Genoa, Ark., then to the Texarkana, Ark., city limits. The pursuit ended in a ditch off Interstate 49, where Dixon was arrested by law officers aided by Arkansas-side police, the Miller County Sheriff's Office and the Stamps Police Department.
