Apparent drowning of two fishermen under investigation in McCurtain County

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating an apparent drowning of two men in a private pond in McCurtain County, Okla., near Hochatown.

The highway patrol is calling the incident an apparent drowning, but the Tulsa, Okla., medical examiner's office will determine the official cause of death.

The report from a Tulsa television station said Leslie Williams, 87, and Glen Williams, 64, both of Broken Bow, Okla., were fishing on a pond northeast of town Tuesday.

Leslie Williams reportedly fell overboard when his boat, a 12-foot Jon boat, capsized, the investigating trooper said.

For "undetermined reasons," Glen Williams' Chevrolet pickup entered the same pond and was found in about 7 feet of water. His body was recovered from the truck, says the report.

The alleged drowning was reported to the sheriff's department
about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The responding agencies included Oklaho-
ma Highway Patrol troopers,
sheriff's deputies and Broken Bow firefighters.
