A prisoner escaped Tuesday morning from the Lafayette County jail in Lewisville, Ark., and remains a fugitive.
Allester Jermaine Stevens, 23, of Stamps, Ark., escaped from the jail in an unknown direction, according to the sheriff's office.
It's unclear how Stevens escaped.
The incident was reported to the sheriff's office at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday.
"If anyone sees this escapee or knows of his whereabouts, contact the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office at 870-921-4252," Sheriff Obie Sims said.
Stevens was in jail for felony failure to appear in court and felony theft by receiving, Sims said.
