Queen City ISD eyes property purchase

Trustees of Queen City Independent School District will meet in executive session at 6:15 p.m. today to consider authorizing the superintendent to enter negotiations to purchase a piece of property between the elementary and high school campuses.

Superintendent Charlotte Williams said the administration had become aware of the property being put up for sale, and they are considering purchasing it for future planning purposes.

"It's always a good idea to have additional property," she said. "It's not a bad investment."

The property, on state Highway 74, joins the high school campus on the south side and the elementary on the west side.

Williams said there are no plans for the property at this point, and this decision gives her permission to put in a bid on the land. A purchasing decision is not expected to be made before the fall.

Personnel will also be discussed during the executive session.

The meeting will be in the board room of the Thornton Administration Building, 1015 Houston St., Queen City, Texas.
