Texas-side police investigating early morning robbery on Woodcliff Drive

Items taken from storage sheds along Valley Road may be connected to Woodcliff case

Texarkana, Texas, Police are investigating a robbery at a residence on Woodcliff Drive that occurred early Monday.

Officers were dispatched about 4:11 a.m. to a burglary report at the residence on Woodcliff Drive, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the TTPD. The homeowner told officers that his niece, who had been asleep on the sofa, was awakened by an unknown man with a black bandana tied around his face.

The man threatened the woman with a knife, led her through the ground floor of the residence and forced her to load several valuables into backpacks. He then made her retrieve the keys to the victim's white 2008 Dodge Caliber that was parked in the driveway, Vaughn said.

The suspect left in the stolen vehicle and was last seen headed toward Valley Road. The young woman then ran back inside the home and alerted the homeowner of what had happened.

The suspect is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a slender build and a stud earring in both ears. He was wearing an oversized black jersey and light blue jeans. He had several tattoos on his right arm.

The stolen Dodge Caliber has damage to the right front bumper and had a Texas license plate of GZP8595 on it when taken. It has not yet been recovered, Vaughn said.

Later Monday morning, police received reports from several homeowners on nearby Valley Road where their outside storage buildings and vehicles had been entered and had items removed. Some of those items were discovered abandoned beside the road as though placed there so someone could return later to easily retrieve them. It appears that these burglaries may be related to the robbery on Woodcliff Drive, Vaughn said.
