Kayak tour, sky watch included in Millwood activities this weekend

Millwood State Park will host activities from a Cypress Slough kayak tour to a sky watch this weekend, said Miller State Park Interpreter Sierra Karambellas.

The Cypress Slough kayak Tour will be today from 4:30-6 p.m. on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. and then Sunday from 9-10:30 a.m.

The minimum kayaking age is 6 and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children age 6-10 must ride tandem with an adult.

Space is limited so pre-register by calling the marina to reserve your boat at 870-898-5334.

The price is $9 for adults and children age 6-10 the cost is $5. Meet at the marina.

Star stories and sky watch will be 7:30-8 p.m. today.

"During the fall, the stars seem to shine brighter against a crisp cool night sky canvas.This offers opportunities to marvel at the moon and distant planets and be awed by the vastness of space, while discovering tales, myth, and legends of the night sky," said Karambellas.

Cast-a-can will explain how to fish using simple material, even aluminum cans or plastic bottle.

The admission is free and meet at the marina.

The Millwood Lake Sunset Tours will be Saturday from 5-6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m.

Seating is limited to 10 passengers. Pre-register by calling the marina to reserve your seat at 870-898-5334. Meet at the marina. The admission for adults is $9 and children 6-12 the price is $5. Children 5 and younger can ride for free.

Millwood State Park is located about 9 miles east of Ashdown, Ark. on Arkansas Highway 32 East.
