Quorum Court OKs funding for various projects

The Miller County Quorum Court helped to fund projects from firefighter's protective gear to funds for the roof repair of the Doddridge museum.

The justices of the peace voted unanimously Monday for appropriation ordinances to help fund the community projects.

The projects include:

  • Mandeville Volunteer Fire Department-$1,605 for personal protective equipment for firefighters
  • Doddridge community-$3,000 for a grant for roof repairs on the Doddridge museum. The community will provide a $1,700 matching grant for the project. The Doddridge Historical Society applied for the grant from the Southwest Arkansas Development Council.
  • Bailiff pay-$6,459 was appropriated for part-time salaries for court bailiffs. Additional court trials have been scheduled near the end of the year, and the funds were needed to help provide security in the courtroom, Miller County administrative assistant Carla Jenkins said.
  • Sheriff department-$7,410.69 for a grant to purchase body armor for sheriff's department deputies
