Bowie County Agricultural Extension Office will hold Backyard Basics Exposition Tuesday

Bowie County Agricultural Extension Office, in conjunction with the Bowie County Leadership Advisory Board, will hold a Backyard Basics Exposition from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Southwest Center, 3222 W. 7th St. in Texarkana.

Sessions include:

Rainwater Harvesting, the basics of capturing rainwater from your roof, with Instructor Andrea Thomas, Bowie County Master Gardener.

Composting, how to turn a mountain of leaves and kitchen scraps into "black gold," with instructor Ken Kunkel, Master Composter and Bowie County Master Gardener.

Keyhole Gardening, a unique way to add a vegetable garden within easy reach, with instructor Joyce White, Bowie County Master Gardener.

Indoor Water Conservation, how small changes inside your home can add up to big savings on your water bill, with the Water Conservation Specialist from Home Depot, Texarkana.

Food Preservation, learn to properly store garden produce via canning and freezing, with instructor Michelle Valentin, Cass County Extension
Agent.

Backyard Poultry, the basics of small scale egg production, with instructor Cherrie Curtis, Bowie County Extension Agent.

Attendees will have an opportunity to visit with community groups and vendors.

Cost is $10 per person. Door prizes will be given out during the day.
