Texarkana College's popular Kid's College summer program will receive a check for $9,545 from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Texarkana at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 in the Nelson Administration Building on the TC campus, 2100 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, Texas.

Kid's College has been offered at TC for 23 years, with the goal of providing summer enrichment programs for students ages 7 through 12. More than 500 area children attended the program this past summer, and that number is expected to increase in 2017, as new courses, including Rocket Science and sports programs will be offered.

"Ronald McDonald House Charities has invested in the Kids' College for the last several years and has enabled TC to expand course offerings and ensure students have necessary supplies to receive a valuable leaning experience," Kristi Hart, TC director of continuing education said in a news release. "The grant funds have helped us grow the program to over 30 classes each summer including Acro-Gymnastics, Archery, CSI Science, Wild and Crazy Kids, Flag Football, and Mad Science."

This is the fourth consecutive year Ronald McDonald House Charities has given a grant for the program. The funds will be used to purchase needed equipment and supplies, in addition to lowering enrollment costs.

"With help from the Ronald McDonald House Charities grant, TC is able to make a difference in the lives of kids throughout the community by providing quality summer courses in a fun, friendly, and safe environment," Hart said in the release. "TC's Kids' College would not be what it is today without their generosity."

Registration for Kids' College will begin April 2017, with the programs having two sessions June 19-22 and June 26-29.
