State education department to host forum in Ashdown

The Arkansas Department of Education is holding a Community Listening Forum today at 11:15 a.m. in the library at Ashdown High School, 171 S. Locust St.

The meeting is one of many forums held throughout the state for the community to give input on student accountability and to learn of changes schools face with the Every Student Succeeds Act, which replaces the No Child Left
Behind Act.

"The ADE is determining what needs to be in the accountability system plan, giving districts, parents and schools (the opportunity for) feedback on what needs to be included," said Kimberly Friedman, director of communications at the Arkansas Department of Education.
