Six-year-old Corie Lavender of Texarkana will be a featured model and artist at The Children's Cancer Fund 29th Annual Gala on April 21 in Dallas.

Corie, a kindergartner at Liberty-Eylau Primary School, was diagnosed with Stage I neurofibromitosis at the age of 4. She has a kitten named Elsa, a dog named Bruno and three sisters. Her favorite subject in school is math, and her hobbies include cooking, coloring, making stuff with glue, karate and playing with her sisters.

She is looking forward to the gala.

"I'm so excited to model in the fashion show, because my family will see me all dressed up in my new clothes," Corie said in a press release. "And I'll get to smile and wave at them from the stage."

The child models will be escorted down the runway by Dallas Cowboys legends Troy Aikman, the honorary chairman, and Roger Staubach, along with other celebrities and sponsors.

Organizers expect to raise more than $1 million for the Children's Cancer Fund, which supports pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at Children's Medical Center. Since 1982, the Children's Cancer Fund has donated almost $8 million to the cause.

Tickets are $300 each or $2,750 for a table of 10. For more information or reservations, contact the Children's Cancer Fund at 972-664-1450 or visit ChildrensCancerFund.com/Gala.
