Senators to visit Texarkana College at TexAmericas Center

U.S. Sens. John Cornyn, R-TX, and John Boozman, R-AR, will visit the Red River Army Depot Thursday morning for an update on its mission and its workplace development partnership with Texarkana College at TexAmericas Center.

Following a briefing from Col. Jason Carrico and RRAD leadership, Cornyn and Boozman will meet with Bowie County Judge James Carlow, Texarkana College President James Henry Russell, TexAmericas Director Scotty Hayes, the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee and other community leaders to discuss the partnership of TC, TexAmericas and the Army, as well as RRAD's effect on military readiness and Texarkana's economy.

The senators will then tour the engine repair classroom and see various military vehicles students are learning to work on. New Boston, Texas Mayor Johnny Branson; Texarkana, Ark., Mayor Ruth Penney-Bell; Texas-side Mayor Bob Bruggeman and Hooks, Texas, Mayor Jay Farris will also be there.
