The suspect in last week's shooting of a 14-year-old boy surrendered to police over the weekend.
Devonta Henderson, 25, of Texarkana, Texas, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, said Shawn Vaughn, Texarkana, Texas, Police Department spokesman.
Henderson called 911 on Saturday afternoon to say that he was at Town North Apartments in the 4600 block of Elizabeth Street, and wanted to surrender. Officers met him near the entrance to the apartment complex and took him into custody without incident.
On April 10, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of West 17th Street in reference to a shooting. At the scene, officers found a 14-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the leg.
Witnesses alleged that Henderson was the shooter, and that he ran from the scene after the incident.
An arrest warrant was obtained later.
