Congressman to speak at economic council dinner

U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-Ark., will be the keynote speaker for the 16th annual Golden Triangle Economic Development Council Dinner, scheduled for May 10 at the El Dorado Country Club, 101 Shady Side S., El Dorado, Ark.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the dinner beginning at 6 p.m.

Westerman was elected in 2014 as the 20th representative of the Fourth Congressional District of Arkansas and serves on the Committee on Natural Resources, the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He also serves on the Majority Whip team led by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

He is a registered professional engineer and forester and worked for 22 years at Mid-South Engineering in Hot Springs, Ark., and was named 2013 Engineer of the Year in by the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers. He lives in Hot Springs with his wife, Sharon, and their four children.

Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased through May 8 at Southern Arkansas University, the GTEDC Office or through the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Offices in Camden, El Dorado and Magnolia. A limited number of student tickets are available at half price and may be purchased by calling the GTEDC office at 870-235-4924.
